Method 2. From a USB drive
Download WLIX to your computer, copy the APK file to a USB drive and connect it to your TV or set-top box. Open the file in any file manager, such as X-plore or File Commander. The system will offer to install WLIX.
You can install WLIX right from your TV: all you need is the remote and a few minutes. If that doesn’t suit you, there are two other options.
You won’t need anything else: no computer, no USB drive, no cable. Just your TV and remote.
Open Google Play on your TV and install the free Downloader by AFTVnews app. You need it to download WLIX.
Launch Downloader and use your remote to type in the address field:
wlix.app/tv
Case doesn’t matter and you don’t need “https://”. Press Go: WLIX will download, and the TV will offer to install it.
If Android asks to allow installation from this source, press “Allow”. You only need to do this once.
Done. WLIX will appear among the apps on your TV. You can delete the downloaded file after installation.
Download WLIX to your computer, copy the APK file to a USB drive and connect it to your TV or set-top box. Open the file in any file manager, such as X-plore or File Commander. The system will offer to install WLIX.
For those comfortable with the command line. On the set-top box, enable developer mode: “Settings → About device”, then press “Build” seven times. Then turn on “Settings → Developer options → Network debugging”. Find the box’s address in the network settings and run adb connect <address>:5555 and adb install wlix.apk on your computer. The computer and TV must be on the same network.
This is standard Android protection. In the window that appears, press “Settings” and allow installation for the app you are opening the file from (Downloader or a file manager). Go back and the installation will continue.
Most often the file did not download completely, so try again. Another common case: WLIX is already installed on the box from a different file. Uninstall the old version and install WLIX again; your history and sources are kept separately and will be preserved.
Check that you typed exactly wlix.app/tv, with no spaces and no “www”. If the set-top box uses a VPN or a third-party DNS, turn it off temporarily and try again.
Some launchers hide manually installed apps in a separate section. Open the list of all apps: from there you can launch WLIX or pin it to the home screen.
You don’t need to update anything manually. WLIX checks for updates at launch, downloads only the necessary changes and installs them with your permission. You won’t need to come back to this site.
